Your Notebooks can now be replaced by a prompt
We originally built the Notebooks feature in Julius in 2024 to help you define step-by-step analysis workflows. At the time, breaking a complex task into individual steps made it much easier for AI models to reliably complete each part of the workflow without losing track of the instructions.
A lot has changed since then.
Over the last 24 months, AI models have become dramatically better at long-horizon tasks. Instead of breaking an analysis into a series of individual steps, you can now simply tell Julius what you want, provide all the relevant context and instructions, and let the AI work through the entire task from start to finish.
We tested this extensively with a cohort of Julius power users. They were able to complete the same workflows significantly faster by replacing their notebooks with a single detailed prompt. These workflows also used fewer credits, making them more efficient, while giving the model a clearer understanding of the overall goal.
In other words, the original reason Notebooks existed has largely gone away.
For that reason, we’re sunsetting Notebooks and focusing on making the core Julius chat experience even better for complex, multi-step analysis.
How to migrate from Notebooks
If you currently have a Notebook you’d like to keep, email us at team@julius.ai from the email associated with your Julius account. Our team can help you export your existing notebooks.
And in most cases, recreating your workflow is simple: take the instructions and prompts from your Notebook and give them directly to Julius in chat.
Today’s models can handle the full workflow at once and will often do it faster, with fewer credits, and with better results.
